Minutes of the Meeting

FOREST LAKES OWNERS ASSOCIATION

June 17, 2000

THOSE PRESENT: Frank Astemborski, President; Edna McKnight, Secretary; Jack Greenleaf, Virgilee Scholl, Ralph Springer, Bill Henry

ABSENT: Irene Evans, Jane Weathersby

There were 36 residents in attendance.

President Astemborski called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m.  and led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the May 20, 2000 Forest Lakes Owners Association meeting were read by the secretary.  Corrections made to include Bill Henry’s name as having attended, a fee is charged for dumping at the Heber pit, and Don Short had provided his water truck for the Memorial Day road watering at a discounted rate.  There being no further additions or correction and

ON A MOTION DULY MADE BY Ralph Springer and seconded by Bill Henry, the minutes were accepted as amended.

Frank reported that the fire department is testing the new air horn in the subdivision.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer' s report was read by Edna McKnight in the absence of Irene Evans.  As of May 31, 2000 the checking account had a balance of $22,458.00.  Expenses for the month totaled $3657.20.  The three CDs currently have a total value of $44,777.31.

There being no additions or corrections, and

ON A MOTION DULY MADE BY Ralph Springer and seconded by Bill Henry, the treasurer’s report was accepted.  

Burnpit: Frank Astemborski reported there is no activity at the burn pit at the present time.  Checking account balance is $1881.14, total loads prior to closing were 313.  There being no additions or corrections, and

ON A MOTION DULY MADE BY Edna McKnight and seconded by Ralph Springer, the report was accepted as read.

Community Building: Ralph Springer reported he had spoken with Representative Hayworth’s office regarding the house bill to enable us to obtain property for community use for the library, school and civic usage.  It has been amended Senator Kyle and a Senator from Alaska and returned to the House for review.  Hopefully, it will go to the President before the summer recess.  Discussion was held regarding finances and how expenses will be covered.

Website: Virgilee Scholl introduced Jennie Van Lew who has been reprogramming the website and keeping current information available.  Current membership is at 570.

Community Roads: Jack Greenleaf reported he had received very favorable responses on the recent watering of the roads over the Memorial Day weekend.

Clean-up/Fix-up: There was no report due to Jane Weathersby’s absence.

Frank reported we had a request from the Fire Department Auxiliary for help in acquiring ten new tables for use by the community.

On a motion made by Ralph Springer and seconded by Virgilee Scholl, the board agreed to pay $500 toward the purchase of these tables.

Pancake Brreakfast: Frank reported the breakfast was a big success with a total profit after deductions for expenses of $1856.79.  This will be split between the auxiliary and the FLOA board; each getting $928.39.

Frank presented certificates to Michelle Klien, Amanda Allard, and Shelby Crunelle for their assistance at the breakfast.

Gene Jeardoe reported on the highway clean-up June 13.  He had 20 volunteers show up who picked up 10 to 15 bags of trash along the two mile stretch of highway.  The next clean up will be after Labor Day.

July 15 we will have Pete Davis and Jack Dunn speaking on emergency preparedness procedures in the subdivision.

A committee is being formed to search out grants and funds for the community to be used as needed by the various organizations.

Looking for nominees for outstanding citizen to be recognized at the annual meeting.

Virgilee urged everyone to take advantage of the vials of life that are available at the library and fire department, to be kept in home refrigerators in case of medical emergency.

Jan Walls reported the school board budget will be published in the Pine Graphics.  The budget has been reduced for this year.

There being no further business, and

ON A MOTION DULY MADE By Ralph Springer and seconded by Virgilee Scholl, the meeting was adjourned at 2:44 p.m.
