Minutes of the Meeting


February 19, 2000

THOSE PRESENT: Frank Astemborski, President; Ralph Springer, Vice-President; Edna McKnight, Secretary; Irene Evans, Treasurer; Jane Weathersby, Virgilee Scholl, Jack Greenleaf, Jack Cartwright, Bill Henry

There were 21 residents in attendance.

President Astemborski called the meeting to order at 12:37 p.m. and led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the January 15, 2000 Forest Lakes Owners Association meeting were read by the secretary. Corrections made regarding names of John Dombrinski and Keith Scholl. There being no further corrections or additions, and

ON A MOTION DULY MADE BY Jane Weathersby and seconded by Ralph Springer, the minutes were accepted as amended.

Treasurer's Report: Irene Evans gave the Treasurer's Report through January 31, 2000. Expenses $10,308.20; assets three CD's totaling $43,248.37 plus checking account balance of $16,315.20 for a total of $59,563.57 in assets.

ON A MOTION DULY MADE BY Ralph Springer and seconded by Virgilee Scholl, the treasurer's report was accepted.

Fire department has been able to burn the slash in the burn pit which included several large stumps as well as slash from the county clean-up. The fire department has presented a bill in the amount of $524, which the county has agreed to pay half. The Owners Association will continue to run the burn pit.

Discussion was held regarding the disposition of logs and stumps in the future as road clean‑up progresses. Homeowners are not allowed to dump logs larger than five inch in diameter or stumps in the burn pit.

The county has also doubled the compactor fees with no prior notice. This is a county‑wide fee increase.

Web Site:  Keith Scholl reported on the web site. Wants people living here permanently that can assist in helping part‑time residents that have problems. Information can be found in the winter edition of the Community Newsletter for those interested in participating. Discussed various areas of emergency information that will be added to the website.

A request has been made to Jennie Van Lew for e‑mail addresses of residents. This should be left to the individual option of each person.

Community Roads: Jack Greenleaf reported that Danny Garcia from the Coconino County Public Works Department will be at the May 20 meeting to discuss road repairs and upgrades.

Frank has asked Jack to check on the progress of the highway improvement at Preacher Canyon and between Forest Lakes and Heber.

Community Building: Ralph Springer reported nothing new. He is still waiting to hear from Mr. Hayworth. He will also be contacting Senator Kyle.

New Business: Jack Cartwright reported the screening committee for the Outstanding Achievement Award has been selected. Members are Joan Earl, Art Gaddis, Edna McKnight, Elmer Hess, and Jack Cartwright. Nomination forms will be in the library and would like to put in the newsletter. They can be left with committee members or at the library. Poster will be put around community.

Help is needed for Fourth of July Picnic; please see Jack C.

Frank suggested that we need to acknowledge the passing of people that have been members of the community. Suggestion was made that family or friends should notify the newsletter for publication. Ralph will put an article in the newsletter requesting the information.

Open Forum: Bill Henry reported problem he has had with phone company and getting line laid. Discussion was held on various ways that this problem has been solved and suggestions as to what he can do. Overhead lines that are being put underground are at no charge to the customer.
